What is it? The Game Key is a baseball/softball signaling system that uses numbers (1-5) in three digit combinations. The system was created by a former college baseball player and current high school and American Legion coach in the state of Illinois. The numbering system is relayed from coach to catcher on the defensive side of the game or coach to batters and base runners for offensive signals. The numbering system is located on a card worn in a wristband on the players forearm or wrist. For calling pitches, the card (example on How it Works Page) is broken down into three sections for even pitch counts, ahead pitch counts, and behind pitch counts. The cards have a number in the top left corner that are specific to that card which the player is wearing which corresponds with the coaches sheet, used to relay the signals. For the offensive signals, the card is broken down into three sections for zero outs, one out, and two outs. The cards have a number in the top left corner that are specific to that card which the player is wearing which corresponds to the coaching card. The cards are unique with team names and colors to match the team specifications. Using The Game Key is simple and effective, the pace and quality of the game will not be sacrificed. Ever had your signs stolen? The Game Key is efficient and easy to use. Simple baseball knowledge is all that is required, the catcher and coach simply need to know what counts fall in the even, ahead, and behind categories in baseball. It is also completely pick proof, you will receive a variety of signaling cards with your purchase and each one has different number combinations within the signaling card. You can rotate the signaling cards as often as needed throughout the game and the opposing team will never be able to pick up your signals. Best of all, in the example on the How it Works Page, you will see that the same 3 digit combination can mean two or three different pitches within one signaling card, making it impossible to track and steal your signals.Proven Success? Your team will never use a different signaling system again! The Game Key allows coaches to relay signals from coach to player in a more innovative and efficient way, it also eliminates missed signals and is very quick and easy to learn. The Game Key has been tested in over 65 games at the high school and American Legion levels of play. An Illinois High School team was 22-9 and won a regional championship in 2009 using The Game Key, and also had a team E.R.A. of 2.63 and not one missed signal took place. Also, an American Legion program went 28-6 in 2009, getting 3rd Place at the Illinois State Tournament; the team also had zero missed signals using the Game Key and a team E.R.A. fewer than 3.00. The Game Key also played a role in helping to chart pitching performances, as well as keep pitch counts. The Game Key would be beneficial for all competitive travel teams, as well as High School and College Baseball and Softball organizations.
